two friends...

Hello friends...
Hope you are having a good week
Just a quickie post from me to share this make with you....

Those that follow my blog regularly will know that I'm not the best person to make use of colour....
I really do admire other artists that use colour and I try and give it a go, but I keep getting pulled back to the darker/grungy shades, I guess that's where I feel most comfortable. ( Its not just in my arty makes....my wardrobe pretty much consists of grey and black....I know, I know its grim, but they really are my comfort colours...)

I created a monochrome background using Rangers Texture paste, when it was dry I used a mixture of distress spray (hickory smoke) along with distress paints (black soot & picket fence)
I also used a mixture of Tim Holtz stencils
I used an original vintage photograph and cut around the ladies,
( there were originally three ladies in the photo but I used my artistic licence and removed one.... i liked it that the two ladies mirrored each other)
I then mounted them onto an old vintage page from a french ledger.
I wanted to highlight the ghostly friends so I used a white signo gel pen.
I then created a patchwork of strips from some offcuts, I stamped using some number stamps and added lots of stitching.

I then added more layers, an old playing card, vintage train ticket stub, an old french bank statement and a rusty key....
The stamped stars are from the tim holtz correspondence set....(yes....I cut the stamps!)
I also used the halftone and rings set
The number stamps are from Hobbycraft..

As always
Feel free to leave a comment, I really appreciate each and everyone.....

Have yourselves a lovely week

journey

Hello friends...
Hope you have had a lovely week!
I wanted to share a quick make I recently made
using some of my Hochanda shopping spree from last month!

This tag uses lots of Decoart-media paints (grunge set)
After watching Andy Skinner, I was so inspired...
I've still got lots of experimenting to do with them but
I'm really loving the effects you get with them....
I've also used some Tando/Andy skinner creative tags and
Industrial elements (bolts and washers)...one of my new favourites!!
The chevron stencil is also by Andy skinner, along with the stamp set...
The key is one of my own vintage finds, wrapped in rusty wire
I love grungy/industrial so this is was great fun to create!

As always feel free to leave a comment....it's always great to know you popped by.

Have a great weekend!

Best of friends....

Hello friends

Hope you are all good
Many thanks for the lovely comments on my last post....I really appreciated each and everyone ...

Wow!September has been so busy for me....lots of things happening, my family seem to like September for their birthdays so there's been lots of celebrating....and cake....lots of cake!
So I've not had a lot of time to create, but I did manage to finish off this piece that had been sat on my desk for what seems like ages.....

I used lots of Tim Holtz distress paints, stamps and an Idea-ology frame....the photo is a vintage one from my collection.
I created a patchwork from off cuts of failed attempts ( I never throw anything away!)
The background is made up from splashes of distress paints, Remnant rub-ons and some stamping using Tim's Mixed media 2 set and Halftone/rings set

I added lots of stitching with my trusty sewing machine.....although its no longer white!
To finish I framed the photograph using an Idea-ology frame and coloured it using a sharpie pen.

Right my mission this afternoon is to clear my desk, its shamefully over crowed with "stuff"
I really struggle to be organised.....
As always feel free to leave a comment

Hope to back soon with another make
Have a great week

Memories...

Hello friends

Hope you are all good!
Ive just returned to work after the summer holidays...
sigh...its taking a while to get back into the swing of things but I think I'm getting there, slowly...

During August I watched my very talented friend Kate Crane do her arty thing with her magic hands on the Hochanda shopping channel....wasn't she good??
(if you ever get a chance to take a workshop with Kate....you must, she rocks!!!)
Kate was using some Tando creative products and Deco- art media to create a planner....
I told myself that I didn't need anymore mixed media stuff, I didn't need anymore mixed media stuff, I didn't need anymore mixed media stuff....
but by the end of the show I had ordered new mixed media stuff!
(cheers Kate!)

Then towards the end of August I watched some of Andy skinners shows on Hochanda,
How good were they??
So you know where this is going right??
Yes....I'm a salesman dream!
So After running up a nice bill on my credit card I thought I best put to use some of the products I bought and share with you my latest make...

The base is a wooden plaque that I picked up from hobbycraft
I used some of the techniques that were shown on the shows....
The background stencil is a crafters workshop, I used modelling paste through it
The bolts are from Industrial Elements ( Tando creative) and are coloured with the Deco-art media grunge set from the show that Andy Skinner did on Hochanda, I love the transformation the kit goes through....its very clever!
If you are a follower of my blog you will know that I like to add my own embellishments, so I added an old rusty key and some really old telephone cord cable.....
To finish I added some rusty wire and added some stitching to the photograph.
I also added some of my favourite Remnant rub-ons and the word 'memories' from Tim Holtz Big chat words.

I'm still very new to the using the products and still have lots to experiment with (and learn!) but Ive really enjoyed the process!

If you would like to leave a comment then please, feel free....
I really appreciate each and everyone!

I will be back soon
Have a lovely weekend!
Bye for now
